India Wrap Up Campaign at Asia Rugby Emirates U18 Sevens Championship 2025

Hohhot, China, September 14, 2025: India’s U18 Boys and Girls Rugby 7s teams signed off their campaigns at the Asia Rugby Emirates U18 Sevens Championship 2025 after two days of spirited performances in Hohhot, China.

On Day 2, the Boys produced a dominant 28-0 victory over Kazakhstan in the classification rounds, booking their spot in the 5th-6th place playoff. Despite a strong showing, they went down 12-22 to Malaysia in the final fixture to finish sixth overall.

The Girls, meanwhile, faced tournament hosts China in the semi-final and battled hard before falling 34-5. In the bronze medal clash against Hong Kong China, the team showed tremendous grit and even threatened to stage a comeback, but eventually lost 12-20 to finish fourth.

The tournament saw standout performances from India’s young stars. In the Boys’ side, Bharat Kisan (16 points), Goldan Kumar (15 points), and Sagar Prakash (15 points) emerged as the top contributors, while for the Girls, captain Anshu Kumari led the charts with 32 points (6 tries, 1 conversion), supported by Arti Kumari (18 points) and Mamali Singh (10 points).

Across the two days, the tournament gave India’s rising stars invaluable exposure on the international stage, testing themselves against some of the continent’s best sides. The experience is set to play a key role in their development as they progress towards future age-grade and senior competitions.

Tournament Wrap-Up

The competition concluded with Japan putting on a commanding display in the Boys’ final, defeating Hong Kong China 42-5 to claim the title. China secured the bronze medal with a narrow 12-10 victory over Chinese Taipei.

In the Girls’ category, hosts China delighted their home crowd by beating Japan 22-12 in a thrilling final to take gold.
